Since 1876, the American
Association on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (AAIDD)
has been providing leadership in the field of mental retardation. AAIDD
(formerly AAMR) is the oldest and largest interdisciplinary organization
of professionals (and others) concerned about mental retardation and
related disabilities.
Over 7,000 members in the
U.S. and 55 other countries have chosen AAIDD as their association.
Over
the years, we've developed and refined a mission statement and a sense
of purpose, which is summarized in our 13-point Principles.
