AAIDD COMMITTEES

The Association maintains Standing Committees as described in the Bylaws. Members of the standing committees are appointed by the Board of Directors after recommendations have been received from the Committee on Nominations & Elections. We also appoint ad hoc committees as may be necessary to promote the objectives and carry out the work of the Association.

STANDING COMMITTEES: Each standing committee consists of seven members, including at least one member of the Board of Directors, who also serves as liaison between the Board and the Committee.

Awards & Fellowship
Awards and Fellowship Committee. Evaluates application for promotion of Active Members to status as Fellows, and makes recommendations on those applications to the Board. The Committee also makes recommendations to the Board regarding honorary members and selects recipients of Association Awards. You must be an AAIDD Fellow to be on this Committee.

Nominations & Elections

Hank Bersani, Jr, PhD

Nominations & Elections Committee. The Committee on Nominations and Elections shall select candidates for association offices, conduct elections, and make recommendations regarding appointments to standing committees as provided in the Association's Constitution and Bylaws. The Committee shall consist of the two most recent available past Presidents of the Association and five other members, two representatives from the Conference of Professional Interests, two representatives from the Assembly of Geographical Interests, and one presidential appointee, who reside, at the time of their appointment, in five different regions of the Association. The most recent past President on the Committee shall serve as Chairperson.

 

AD HOC COMMITTEES: The chair of the ad hoc committees is appointed by the President. Each committee includes within its membership a member of the Board of Directors. At the end of the President's term of office such ad hoc committee are disband unless reappointed or reconstituted by the new president.
