As a leading scholarly press in the disabilities field, AAIDD serves faculty, practitioners, clinicians, researchers, families, agencies, and libraries throughout the United States and the world.
Publishing with AAIDD is a rewarding professional experience. Editorial boards concentrate on making the peer-review process as helpful to authors as possible. AAIDD’s rigorous standards and strict practice of anonymity during the review process have established our journals and books as among the most prestigious in the human services.
A high citation rate and widespread visibility characterize AAIDD products. If your journal manuscript or book proposal is accepted, you can expect high-quality professional editing and production. In addition, AAIDD publications are widely circulated and reach a large audience.
Guidelines, policies, and other information for authors are available through the navigation tabs on the left.
A growing number of funding agencies around the world now stipulate that research articles they have funded must be made open access. This may be either by mandating deposit in repositories (“green” open access) or by stipulating that research is published in open access journals (“gold” open access).
Funder open access mandates can be fulfilled through green open access as a result of AAIDD’s self-archiving policies. Authors who publish in AAIDD journals are expected to deposit the final, published version of the article into an institutional or centrally organized subject repository, immediately upon publication. This is provided that the author includes a link to the published version of the article on the journal's Web site and that the journal and AAIDD are attributed as the original place of publication, with appropriate citations provided.
Following are links to the specific open access policies of various national and international funding agencies:
