Environmental Health

All people have the right to live, work, and play in a healthy environment.  People with intellectual and developmental disabilities may be at greater risk of secondary health effects from toxic exposures than individuals without disabilities. The evidence is clear that certain environmental chemicals such as lead and alcohol can cause disabilities, and disability caused by toxic exposures are unnecessary and preventable.

From 2003¬through 2011, AAIDD undertook a special Environmental Health Initiative with the support of the John Merck Fund.
