Rozemarijn Staal, PsyM, received the 2012 Student Award today at the 136th annual meeting of the American Association on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (AAIDD).
The AAIDD Student Award is given for service, leadership, and scholarship. Awardees must be nominated by at least two faculty members and submit documented evidence of service, leadership, and scholarship.
Ms. Staal is a third-year doctoral student at Wright State University’s School of Professional Psychology. She developed a screening tool that uses the behavioral observations found in the Diagnostic Manual-Intellectual Disability (DM-ID) to assist clinicians in making more accurate diagnoses of psychological disorders in individuals with intellectual disability.
Founded in 1876, AAIDD is the oldest professional society concerned with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
